Student Graphic Designer and Instructional Assistant

Beginning Date: Immediately or by beginning of summer sessions latest

Work Schedule: Flexible hours available between 7:30am and 4:00pm Monday-Friday(summer hours), but must be available a minimum of 20 hours per week in summer. Fall and Spring semester hours,8:00am to 4:30pm, with a minimum of 10 hours per week.

Hours per Week: Up to 37.5 during the summer 15 -20 hours per week during the regular semester

Pay Rate: Starting salary $9.50/hour with annual raises based on performance and length of employment

Duties

  • Design Graphics for instructional use
  • Work at computer in blackboard to input materials and exams for online courses
  • Create and format documents and tables in Microsoft Office
  • Learn and use other software and equipment as needed
  • Assist with managing office equipment and inventory
  • Assist with online course accessibility
  • Assist with transcribing as needed

Required Skills

  • Detail Oriented
  • Working knowledge of Adobe CC software such as Photoshop or Illustrator
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Office
  • Excellent Written, Communication, and Grammar skills
  • Good working knowledge of standard computer skills (pc and/or mac), and the ability to learn and use Blackboard and other software as needed

KIIS Study Abroad

Social Media Student Worker

Bowling Green, KY

The Kentucky Institute for International Studies (KIIS) has an opening for a social media student worker from the field of Advertising, Art, Graphic Design, Journalism & Broadcasting, Marketing or related field.

KIIS annually operates over 30 Summer, Winter, and Semester study abroad programs in Africa, Asia, Europe, and Latin America for undergraduate and graduate students. The KIIS website is www.kiis.org.

The Social Media student worker will be responsible for KIIS’s Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, and other media outlets. Target audience is approximately 200,000 students and faculty across 22 campuses in KY, IN, TN, and WV.

Job Duties:

  • Create content and interact with students, faculty, and parents on KIIS social media sites (includes conducting research for content).
  • Increase KIIS’s social media following.
  • Assist with the KIIS photo contests.
  • Meet bi-weekly/as needed with the KIIS Assistant Director and KIIS Graphic Design Student Worker for effective completion of projects, communication, guidance and follow up.
  • Hang KIIS posters and marketing materials on campus.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Some college experience.
  • Able to multi-task and meet time-sensitive project deadlines.
  • Highly organized and shows great attention to detail.
  • Excellent written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills.
  • Self-motivated and able to work independently and as a team.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • If feasible, KIIS would love to have the student work in the office 1 -2 years.
  • Some experience developing event flyers with Photoshop, InDesign, or MS Office.
  • Some work experience in social media, graphic design, advertising, or related field.
  • 2.8 GPA or above.
  • Some public speaking experience.

Interview/Work Schedule:

  • Start Date: As soon as possible after an interview
  • Spring & Fall Semesters: approx. 10 hours/week.
  • Summer: 10-20 hours/week.
